Helga, Siggi and the horses of Finnsstaðir
Finnsstaðir is a family farm run by Helga Guðrún Sturlaugsdóttir and Sigurður Hlíðar Jakobsson. Helga is a horsewoman and a pharmacy technician. Siggi is a mechanic who speaks two languages: Icelandic and horse. Our horses live on the farm all year round and you are welcome to say hello. You will meet the dogs, cats, goats and calves too.
The Icelandic horse
Small, sure-footed and famously good-natured, with a gait few horses have: the tölt, so smooth the rider barely moves.
Stay on the farm
Wake up with the horses outside your window. Views over the lake and mountains, and in winter a good chance of Northern Lights.
The farmhouse
3 bedrooms, up to 6 guests, 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, Wi-Fi and a private outdoor hot tub.
The remote house
A more secluded private house for extra peace and quiet.
Campground
Bring your tent and camp on the farm.
